Start the New Year with a goal to explore
the great outdoors, such as Sullivan County’s O&W Rail Trail
Network. The O&W Rail Trail Alliance, Sullivan Public Library
Alliance (SUPLA), and Sullivan County’s Division of Planning are excited
to announce the successful distribution of the Tracks and Trails
Daypack Program to 26 locations, including schools and libraries across
the county. Made possible by Sullivan 180’s Community Development Grant,
this initiative is designed to inspire adventure while promoting safety
and awareness of the county’s scenic parks and trails.
What’s Inside the Daypack?
Each daypack is thoughtfully
stocked with essentials to ensure a safe and enjoyable outdoor
experience. Items include, but are not limited to:
· A first aid kit, binoculars, sunscreen, and bug repellent wipes
· A hiking journal, flashlight, rain ponchos, and a bivy sack (emergency sleeping bag)
·
Informational resources like the Sullivan County Parks & Rec
brochure, O&W Rail Trail map, trail use guidelines, and clothing
tips
· Fun activities for kids from the National Park Service
These daypacks are the perfect companion for exploring the O&W Rail Trail or any of Sullivan County’s open spaces.
